What does STAR certified mean?
STAR is a California Bureau of Automotive Repair program. Stations in the program must meet higher performance standards, and some vehicles are directed by the DMV to be inspected at a STAR station. A STAR station can also inspect vehicles that aren’t directed.
What is a test-only smog station?
A test-only station performs smog inspections and does not perform repairs. If your vehicle doesn’t pass, you’ll receive the inspection report and can take it to a licensed repair shop of your choice.
